Not too far from Aramingo...

A young, 27-year-old, homeless mother by the name of Sierra Bailey died Friday, Nov. 25, on the streets of Kensington.

While it's not known why she died yet, what is known is that there are hundreds of homeless youth on the streets in Philadelphia today. Add to that number 30,000 homeless college kids like Matthew Bennett

And you'll see this city has a real  problem. While City Council announced on November 29 it's giving $700K to help house, train, and help these youth, you can rest assured this will not solve the problem. While places like Covenant House are reaching out to help  youth like Zinqueece Giddings

this is a 2 hour walk from Aramingo Avenue and when you're worried about where your next meal will come from or where you're going to sleep that night, this walk isn't one you want to take nor is it the first thing on your mind. As such, these folks often get overlooked. You don't realize how many times people will simply drive by them without offering anything and when they do they often throw it at them as if they're less than human.

This Christmas while you're out shopping for your friends and family, remember these youth (and the older homeless folks too). They don't have friends or family to help them, but they have you. So, please remember our Christmas "drive"
This is important because
